28th Annual Cotton & Rural History Conference


The 28th meeting of the Cotton & Rural History Conference is scheduled for Saturday, November 9 at 9:50am at the Audie Murphy American Cotton Museum in Greenville. 
Registration begins at 9am with the program running from 9:50 AM until 2 PM. The Museum is located at 600 I-30 East, Greenville, Texas. 
Keynote speaker Dr. Rebecca Sharpless is a Professor in the Department of History at Texas Christian University. She is the author of several books, including Grain and Fire: A History of Baking in the American South (2022),Cooking in Other Women’s Kitchens: Domestic Workers in the South, 1865-1960 (2010), and Fertile Ground, Narrow Choices: Women on Texas CottonFarms, 1900-1940 (1999). She is active in a number of professional organizations and is past president of the Oral History Association and the Southern Association for Women Historians.
The meeting will begin with a panel on the East Texas town of Kelsey. Thereafter a public history panel will feature Dr. Meredith May, Jasmine Stoker, and Clent Helmes' work on Longview 1919: Remembrance and Community Projects.

The event itself is free.
